The City of Houston’s 30 MW Solar Power Deal

April 29, 2016 @ 8:00 am - 9:30 am

Free

Register below to join the Houston Renewable Energy Network for a breakfast forum on “The City of Houston’s 30 MW Solar Power Deal” on Friday, April 29, 2016.

Last November, the City of Houston announced that it will be purchasing 30 MW of solar power from Hecate Energy through its retail electric provider, Reliant Energy.  This is a 20 year power purchase agreement; not just renewable energy credits (RECs).  The facility will be located in West Texas near Alpine and Reliant will transport the solar power to the City’s meters.

The solar power deal continues Houston’s leadership as a Solar City, and cements its #1 position on EPA’s Top 30 Local Government green power users and its #6 ranking on the National Top 100 list of green power organizations.

Come meet the people who put this innovative solar deal together – the first for a deregulated Texas market like Houston zone.  The panel will include:

James Cargas – Senior Assistant City Attorney for Energy for the City of Houston
Art Formas, Jr. – Senior Account Executive, Reliant Energy Retail LLC
Stephanie Kroger – Partner, Andrews Kurth LLP
Craig Overmyer – Vice President of Operations for Hecate Energy LLC

A complimentary networking breakfast will begin at 8:00 a.m., with the presentation to follow at 8:30 a.m. in the auditorium at the Wells Fargo Building on 1000 Louisiana Street, Houston, Texas.  In addition to metered street parking spots that may be open, valet parking is available for a fee in the building’s garage located on the corner of Lamar and Louisiana.

The program will conclude at 9:30 a.m., and there is no cost to attend the event.

The Houston Renewable Energy Network promotes awareness and education of renewable energy technologies and markets among energy professionals in the Greater Houston area and serves as a networking organization for those with commercial and/or career interests in the Renewable Energy space. The network hosts periodic speaking events that are open to the public.
